# Get started with Piksel in minutes

> Follow these steps to upload your first media file, build a playlist, pair an Apple TV screen, and see your content playing on a display.

This guide walks you through the fastest path from a new Piksel account to content playing on a screen. By the end, you will have a media file in your library, a playlist ready to go, and a paired Apple TV display showing your content.

  <Step title="Create your account">
    Go to the Piksel dashboard and click **Register**. Enter your email address and a password, then confirm your email. Piksel creates your account and signs you in automatically.

    <Tip>
      If your organization already has a Piksel account, ask the account owner to invite you as a team member instead of creating a separate account.

  <Step title="Upload your first media file">
    In the sidebar, click **Media Library**. Click **Upload** and select an image or video from your computer. Piksel uploads the file to secure cloud storage and adds it to your gallery.

    Once the upload completes, the file appears as a card in the Media Library grid. You can click any card to preview the file before adding it to a playlist.

      Supported file types include common image formats (JPEG, PNG, WebP) and video formats (MP4). Upload high-resolution files — your Apple TV will display them at full quality.

  <Step title="Create a playlist">
    In the sidebar, click **Playlists**, then click **New Playlist**. Give the playlist a name and set a default duration — this is how long each item plays if you do not set a custom duration per item.

    After creating the playlist, open the **Playlist Builder** by clicking the playlist name. Click **Add Media**, select the file you just uploaded, and click **Add**. The item appears in the playlist. Drag items to reorder them, or click the duration field on any item to override how long it plays.

      You can add as many media items as you like. The playlist loops continuously on the display until a schedule or smart rule changes it.

  <Step title="Pair your Apple TV screen">
    Power on your Apple TV and open the Piksel player app. The app displays a **6-digit pairing code** on screen.

    In the Piksel dashboard sidebar, click **Screens**, then click **Pair Screen**. Enter the 6-digit code shown on your Apple TV and click **Pair**. The screen appears in your Screens list within a few seconds, marked as **Online**.

      Each code is unique to that Apple TV and is only valid until the screen is paired. Once paired, the code is no longer needed — the display identifies itself by its display ID going forward.

  <Step title="Assign your playlist to the screen">
    On the **Screens** page, click the screen you just paired to open its detail view. Under **Assigned Playlist**, select the playlist you created. Click **Save**.

    The Apple TV receives the update in real time and begins playing your playlist within seconds.

  <Step title="Watch it play">
    Look at your Apple TV — your media should be playing now. The Screens page in the dashboard shows the display as **Online** and lists the active playlist.

    From here you can:

    * Go to **Schedules** to set up time-based playlist changes
    * Go to **Playlists** to add more media or adjust item durations
    * Go to **Screens** to rename the display, set its location, or adjust rotation
